1.What is the “Free Carry-on baggage”?

 “Carry-on baggage” is the baggage carried and looked after by the passengers during the entire travel period including the stopover time. “Free Carry-on baggage” must be regulated of type and amount by the carriers.

2.What is the “baggage ticket”?

The "baggage ticket" is a part of ticket involving checked baggage. 

3.What is the "baggage tag identification voucher"?

The "baggage tag identification voucher" is specifically issued by the carrier to the passengers for identifying their checked baggage. 

4.Why is some of our baggage not allowed to be brought into the plane when boarding?

The size of carry-on baggage shall fit with the space of baggage rack or space under seats. For safety reasons and to guarantee normal activities inside the cabin, our staff are authorised to prevent oversize baggage being brought into the aircraft. 

5.How much free carry-on baggage can I take?

First class passengers can take two pieces of baggage onboard, while passengers of other classes can take one piece only. However, each piece of baggage must be no more than 8kg in weight, and must be no more than 20*40*55cm in size.Carry-on items that exceed the limits to weight or volume should be transported as checked baggage. Please check your baggage at the check-in counter or self-service baggage checking equipment in advance. China Southern Airlines may inspect your baggage at check-in counter, security check counter, boarding gate and cabin. Your baggage exceeding the free baggage allowance will be charged as per excess baggage rate. According to the Regulation on the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air (Order No. 42 of the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China, 2016), if your carry-on excess baggage doesn’t comply with relevant regulations, you must re-check the baggage at check-in counter or self-service baggage checking equipment, and such baggage may not arrive at the destination on the same flight with you.

6.What items can be checked but cannot be carried?

In addition to the prohibited items listed by carry-on and checked baggage rules, other household blades such as kitchen knives, shears, large fruit knives and razors; specialized tools such as surgical blades, butcher's knives, and carving tools; broadswords, spears, swords, and halberds used in performances; and other sharp or blunt instruments such as axes, hammers, awls, canes with increased weight or sharp point, and alpenstocks that may threaten flight safety. 

7.Can I carry liquid article?
1. All items of liquids, gels, and aerosols must be stored in containers with a maximum capacity of 100 ml. If larger than 100 ml (even if it is not full), it is not allowed to carry in cabin but in checked baggage.

2.The containers with liquids should be fitted comfortably within a re-sealable transparent plastic bag of a maximum capacity not exceeding 1 liter (L). Each passenger can only bring one transparent plastic bag at a time, and shall transport the exceeding part as checked baggage.

3.The plastic bag with liquids must be checked particularly at the security checkpoint; baby formula/milk/breast milk (with baby accompanied) and necessary liquid drug brought by diabetics or other patients should be passed through the security checkpoint, and you shall show the certification to security-checking staffs. Liquid drug should be stored in 100 ml container in a transparent plastic bag;

4.Liquids bought in the isolated area of the airport terminal are permitted to carry on board.
8.Can strollers and baby food be treated as carry-on baggage?

Infant baggage allowance is 10kg plus a baby stroller (pram). Rigid strollers can only be transported as checked baggage. Collapsible strollers can be stored in cabin. However, if cabin space is insufficient, collapsible strollers must be transported as checked baggage. The infant food and items for daily use can be brought into the cabin after they are shown and explained to security staff. 

9.How many lithium batteries can be placed in my carry-on baggage?
The lithium batteries in cell phone and notebook computer etc. can be carried by passenger.
10.What portable electrical appliances can be brought into the cabin?
The electrical appliances including digital camera, MP3, mobile phone, mobile phone charger, CD player and laptop, larger electrical appliance such as hair dryer etc. that can be placed into the carry-on baggage may be brought into the cabin with prior showing and explanation to the security staff.
11.Can I board with hairspray?
