Accompanied Children
I. Definition
Child means a person who has reached his/her second birthday but not his/her 12th birthday as of the date of commencement of travel.
II. Transportation Requirements
Children aged above two and under five years must be accompanied by an adult passenger travelling in the same physical cabin who is aged of and above eighteen with full capacity of civil conduct and the ability to take care of them. For the children passengers who have reached the age of five but are under the age of twelve, if they take flights independently without the company of an 18-year-old adult passenger or above with full capacity for civil conduct in the same class cabin, the Unaccompanied Children Services must be applied.
III. Fare
Since children occupy seats, the fare is charged as per the corresponding child fare.
Notes:
(1) Children shall purchase tickets with valid ID documents, such as ID cards, household registers (under 16 years old), and passports, and check in with the same original documents used at the time of ticket purchase.
(2) Each adult passenger aged of and above eighteen years with full capacity of civil conduct and the ability to take care of kids may travel with not more than 8 infants and children under 12 years of age, where the infants and children under 5 shall not be more than 3 and the infants shall not be more than 1.An adult passenger flying with more than the allowed number of children shall book group travel and will be thus received.
(3) Each adult passenger aged of and above eighteen years with full capacity of civil conduct and the ability to take care of kids may travel with one ill or disabled infant or child only and shall not take any other children or infants.
(4) Adult passengers flying with children or infants must be able to take care of them, and those having booked such special services as stretcher, wheelchair or unaccompanied elder are not allowed to take any children or infants.
(5) Should the local law or regulations provide otherwise, the relevant law or regulations shall prevail.
IV. Free Baggage Allowance
Children who purchase tickets at the corresponding child fare are entitled to the free baggage allowance corresponding to the fare class of their tickets.
Unaccompanied Children/ Teenagers
I. Definition
Unaccompanied children refer to the children who have come to the age of 5, but are under the age of 12 from the day of travel, and take flights without the company of an 18-year-old adult passenger or above with full capacity for civil conduct in the same class cabin. China Southern Airlines only accepts for carriage unaccompanied children who have gone through the relevant procedures for the transportation of unaccompanied children, and take the same aircraft throughout their journey.
Unaccompanied children under the age of 5 are not accepted for carriage.
Unaccompanied teenagers refer to the teenagers who have come to the age of 12, but are under or at the age of 18, and take flights without the company of an 18-year-old passenger or above in the same class cabin, and have applied for unaccompanied teenagers service.
II. Applicable Flights
We provide unaccompanied children and unaccompanied teenagers services on China Southern Airlines’ domestic, international and regional direct (non-stopover) flights operated by China Southern Airlines.
III. Cabin application
First class, business class, premium economy and economy class are all open to application for the unaccompanied children/teenagers service.
IV. When to apply
The carriage of unaccompanied children/teenagers services must be requested at the time of seat reservation.For the unaccompanied children/teenagers service in domestic flights, the application shall be submitted 24 hours before the flight departure. For international flights, the application shall be submitted 48 hours before the flight departure.
V. Quota
Since the carrier is responsible for unaccompanied children/ teenagers and needs to deliver safe and thoughtful special services and care throughout the journey, there is a limit on the number of unaccompanied children/ teenagers on each flight.
VI. Charging Standards and Applicable Fares
1) Fares for unaccompanied children:
Domestic: 50% of the normal fare applicable to adults;
International and regional: Fares are charged as per the rules applicable to unaccompanied children.
2) Fares and service fees for unaccompanied teenagers:
Domestic: As per the normal fare applicable to adults;
International and regional: It is divided into two parts – fare and service fee, and charged separately. Fare: As per the normal fare applicable to adults. Service fee: Each flight segment (subject to the content displayed on the ticket) is charged a service fee of RMB 350 or equivalent amount in other currencies.
VII. Requirements for Travel Documents
Children purchase tickets with valid ID documents, such as ID card, household register (under 16 years old), and passport, and check in with the same original documents used at the time of ticket purchase. For pick-up and drop-off, the pick-up and drop-off persons must go through corresponding pick-up and drop-off procedures at the airport with valid and original ID documents
For international flights, please read through the entry, exit and transit information, regulations and other important travel information applicable to the country you are travelling to before purchasing tickets. Make sure that you travel with all valid travel documents (passports, visas, relevant certificates, etc.) and comply with the entry, exit, transit or other regulatory requirements of the country you are travelling to.
VIII. How to Apply
To apply for unaccompanied children/ teenagers services, the parent or guardian of the child/ teenager should fill out the Unaccompanied Minor Service Application Form (in duplicate). Passengers may handle the service at CSAIR app, WeChat public account, CSAIR self-run ticket office or call center (4006695539).
The parents or guardians of unaccompanied children/ teenagers shall accompany their children/teenagers to the boarding location, arrange relevant persons for pick-up and care at the place of arrival, and provide the name, contact address, phone number of the pick-up person arranged at the flight destination to China Southern Airlines. In case there is flight abnormality, the drop-off person needs to stay in the airport until the flight takes off.
Ⅸ. Change and Refund
For passengers who have successfully reserved the unaccompanied minor service, flight/ date change or service cancellation shall be handled as per the ticket use rules; upon ticket change, if the service is still needed, please apply for it again according to the application procedure.
In case of flight abnormality, we will:
1) After obtaining passengers’consent, help special passengers and their companions change to flights where special services are available, which is free of charge;
2) After obtaining passengers’consent, perform involuntary refund for special passengers and their companions.
