China Southern Airlines has officially joined Canada's Transit Without Visa Program (TWOV) and China Transit Program (CTP). Passengers traveling to the United States by flights of China Southern Airlines can transit through Canada without applying for a Canadian visa, as long as the following conditions are met:
— Hold a valid passport issued by countries of China, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines, as well as the region of Taiwan (China);
— Hold a valid US visa;
— Travel on a China Southern Airlines flight from Guangzhou to Canada;
— Transfer from Vancouver International Airport or Terminal 1 of Toronto Pearson Airport to the US.
TWOV passengers arriving in Vancouver may stay in the TWOV transit area and the waiting area around the US boarding gate, but must leave Canada for the US before 21:30 on the same day.
Visa-free Transit Procedure
Before boarding, passengers need to have their documents and visas checked by the China Southern Airlines check-in department to confirm their eligibility.
(I) Visa-free transit in Canada is only applicable to CZ329 flights.
(II) Passengers must hold valid passports issued by countries of China, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines, as well as the region of Taiwan (China) to transit from Canada to the US on China Southern Airlines (only applicable to those with US visas), without the need for a Canadian visa.
(III) Passengers with a US green card who are transiting in Canada must apply for Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
(IV) The TWOV room closes at 23:30 daily, so all connecting flights for TWOV passengers arriving in Vancouver must be scheduled before 21:30. Otherwise, they will not be able to continue their journey to the US through the TWOV channel.
*Important reminder: As China Southern Airlines operates at Terminal 3 of Toronto Pearson Airport, visa-free transit is not currently supported at that terminal.
